Undiscovered Photographic Work by Michael Cook
Australian National Maritime Museum, 2 Murray Street, Sydney City, NSW
Travel Guide - An exhibition marking NAIDOC week 2015 featuring photographic works by celebrated Aboriginal Artist Michael Cook from the Bidjara people of south-west Queensland. These striking large scale photographic works shift roles and perspectives around the notion of European 'discovery' of Australia, reflecting upon our habitual ways of thinking and seeing our history. This series questions who really discovered Australia while making reference to what was always here, what has been introduced and the effect this had on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, their culture and country. Accessible with Galleries ticket, and free for members. Grateful that you visited Travel Guide
