Travel Guide - Bee Gees fans should take a trip north of Brisbane to visit Bee Gees Way, a commemorative walkway paying tribute to the area's most famous young residents. Opened in February 2013 by band-member Barry Gibb, Bee Gees Way runs between Redcliffe Parade and Sutton Street, Redcliffe. It was in the same area in the 1950s that the three brothers - Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb - played for the first time utilising the 'Bee Gees' performing name. A bronze statue depicting the Gibb brothers aged 9 to 12 years old marks the beginning of the walkway, which is lined with album covers, photos, anecdotes and other items curated by Barry Gibb. The statue took approximately five months to create, and was created by Brendale-based sculptor Phillip Piperides. Directly opposite the 1.7 metre statue stands a four-metre-high mural of the band. Barry Gibb is second only to Paul McCartney in the Guinness Book of Records' most successful songwriters in history.
